How to protect yourself from coronavirus

What is the new coronavirus?

An epidemic of acute respiratory infections caused by the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) originated in China. This virus can cause symptoms such as cough, temperature above 38 ° C and difficulty breathing. For some ill persons, this disease can cause serious health complications and even death.

How does this virus spread?

The first recorded cases of the disease occurred in people who visited the local market in Wuhan, China. However, it is also possible to become infected through close contact with a person who has the above symptoms of the disease (especially cough).

Recommendation for travelers from China

If you have recently returned from China and have a cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing within 14 days of your return, stay at home and contact your doctor by phone to tell him about your medical conditions and your return from China. Your doctor will then decide what to do next.

Does the mask provide sufficient protection against coronavirus?

If someone in your area is infected, it is very useful to wear a mask. Medical personnel in direct contact with infected patients should wear the FFP2 / N95 mask. Also other personal protective equipment such as disposable gloves, overalls, and goggles.

It is recommended to use a medical hygiene mask for already infected persons.
In other circumstances, the use of a mask is not necessary.

The difference between FFP3 and FFP2 respirators

FFP3 – protection against particles, solid and liquid aerosols, mist and smoke, viruses and bacteria and spores. They may be used as long as the concentration does not exceed the permissible value of 40xNPK (maximum permissible concentration).

FFP2 – protection against particles, solid and liquid aerosols, mist and smoke. They may be used as long as the concentration does not exceed the allowable value of 10xNPK (maximum allowable concentration).
